This is not about being perfect or already knowing how to build. It is about learning in a space where you can ask questions, use the tools, gain practical experience, and realize you are more capable than you thought.

The DIY Experience

Learn the Home Repairs That Actually Matter

This is not a general DIY project day. You will receive focused, hands-on instruction in two of the most important areas of your home: electrical and plumbing.

You will learn how to confidently handle common repairs, understand what is safe to do yourself, and know when it is time to call a professional.

Morning Session: Electrical Basics

Learn how to safely complete common electrical updates, including:

  • Installing and replacing light fixtures
  • Replacing light switches
  • Installing and replacing GFCI outlets
  • Understanding basic electrical safety and when to call an electrician

Afternoon Session: Plumbing Basics

Learn how to handle common plumbing repairs and replacements, including:

  • Installing and replacing faucets
  • Installing a toilet
  • Repairing common toilet issues, including a broken flush handle, flapper problems, and a toilet that continues running
  • Fixing common toilet clogs
  • Identifying and addressing basic leaks

The Homesteading Experience

Homesteading isn’t about how much land you have—it’s about learning how to do a little more for yourself, wherever you are.

During this 90-minute hands-on experience, you’ll get a taste of what it means to live a little closer to the land. Discover simple ways to bring more self-sufficiency into your home, whether by getting your hands in the soil, working with freshly harvested goods, or learning a traditional homesteading skill.

You don’t need acres of land to do it! Whether you have a backyard garden, a small patio, or a sunny apartment window, there are ways to incorporate these principles into the life you already live. Come curious, ready to learn, and prepared to get your hands a little dirty.

EmpowerHER One-Day DIY Retreat

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the One-Day Mini Retreat and the Five-Day EmpowerHer Retreat?

They are two completely different experiences. The One-Day Mini Retreat combines electrical and plumbing training with wellness, homesteading, and connection — all in one day. The Five-Day EmpowerHer Retreat is a full immersive experience with an entirely different DIY curriculum and multiple days of hands-on learning, personal growth, and restoration.

I've already taken the Three-Day ContractHer Workshop. Should I attend the One-Day Mini Retreat?

Probably not. The electrical and plumbing curriculum is the same as the Three-Day ContractHer Workshop. If you're looking for your next hands-on experience, we recommend the Five-Day EmpowerHer Retreat instead.

Do I need DIY experience?

No. This retreat is designed for beginners and women at every level.

Is this an overnight retreat?

No. This is a full one-day experience.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes appropriate for hands-on DIY work and being on a farm.

Are meals included?

Yes. Light breakfast, lunch, refreshments, and the closing soup gathering are included.

Can I come alone?

Absolutely. Many women will come independently and leave with new connections.

Can I attend both days?

The programming is the same on both dates, so you only need to choose one.

What about the Five-Day EmpowerHer Retreat, who is that for?

Anyone—no prior ContractHer classes or DIY experience required. Designed for both first‑timers and alumni with a completely different curriculum from the Three‑Day Workshop and One‑Day Mini. Over five days, you'll go beyond DIY with immersive learning, wellness, community, and personal growth. If you want to check the 5-Day option out, simply click the button below.
